World's first Domestic Violence app launched

On Friday I attended the launch of a new app, aimed at domestic violence workers about Queensland's Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012. The app is a world first initiative, and is free, available on the web from Central Queensland University: http://noviolence.com.au/dvactfacts/ and also available for Android, and for iPhones and iPads through iTunes. The app is called "DV Act Facts" on iTunes.

Put simply, although the app is not legislation it offers a VERY quick ability to see what the legislation is about, including being able to search through the legislation much quicker than searching than through Austlii or by paper or the Parliamentary Counsel's website. It is an absolute boon for lawyers going to court, as it makes searching the legislation so easy.

I am showing noted domestic violence academic Zoe Rathus the app following the launch.

Director of the Centre, Heather Nancarrow, Judge Brendan Butler SC and project director Katrina Finn.
In a word, the app is BRILLIANT! Well done Queensland Centre for Domestic and Family Violence Research!
